Red Ribbon: Drug Prevention Week Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 23-31 when we promote a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug-Free campus. We are all very aware of the dangers related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs especially for our young people. Red Ribbon Week is our opportunity to promote a healthy, drug-free message to our students. Activities will take place during BOTH lunches under the pavilion.

Dr. Jerry Noel Inspires AVID Students to Become Brain Surgeons AVID's first guest speaker for the 2014-15 school year was brain surgeon Dr. Jerry Noel. Dr. Noel, born in Haiti, inspired AVID students to believe that despite an impoverished upbringing, being new to the United States, and having English as a second language they can excel to the highest of thier abilities.
Sunnymead Middle Awarded $100,000 Fitness Center

Sunnymead Middle Awarded $100,000 Fitness Center Sunnymead Middle School's commitment to health and fitness has won it's Physical Education department national recognition – and a brand-new fitness center set to open next month.

Sunnymead is one of three schools to win the prize this year after being honored by the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Council and the state as a National Champion School.

Yellow Ribbon: Suicide Prevention Week The National Yellow Ribbon Week for Suicide Prevention is September 8th – 12th. MVUSD and schools throughout the country have dedicated this week to advocate awareness to the critical issue of suicide.
