Principal's Message

Principal VillaIt is truly an honor to serve as principal at Sunnymead Middle School. The mission of our school staff is to do Whatever it Takes to create an empowered community of life long learners. Our vision outlines our specific commitments to make our mission a reality for the community we serve. Our vision is based on the premise that students experience challenging, relevant, and rigorous standards-based curriculum; that staff members collaborate and differentiate to ensure academic and social success for all students giving attention to individual learning styles in a positive, caring, and supportive environment; that staff members strive to promote a continuous partnership of open dialogue among the school, the family, and the community; and that staff members and students will collaboratively demonstrate, teach, and practice respect for all.

Currently we serve nearly1650 students making us the largest middle school of the district. As a QEIA school, we reduced class size to 28 students in all core classes. In order to accommodate reduced class size, we currently enjoy the energy and expertise of many new and returning teachers for a total of 81.

As a unit, we are determined to meet the needs of all students through a deeper level of data analysis, a greater focus on targeted student groups, increased collaboration among teachers and parents, and a personal commitment to go out of our comfort level as we share best practices while we observe and learn from each other. We ask that you join us in our continuous quest to improve student achievement. You can do so by regularly attending meetings, parent-teacher conferences, Back to School Night, Open House, AB1802 Guidance sessions, IEPs, fieldtrips, and the like.

We hope that you will take advantage of the many ways you can be connected to our educational community. You can do so by visiting our site, calling or emailing our staff, or by simply asking your students to keep you abreast of their progress and daily learning. Your time, commitment, and involvement is greatly valued and appreciated by all, especially our students.

We ask that you be patient as we continue to update our webpage.
